General Overview 4th and 5th Jan 2023

 Klishchiivka, Donetsk Oblast

Russia has advanced by 1.1 km north of Klishchiivka to capture approx. 6.5 km 2 of land. Russian forces are now between 800 metres and 1.3 km away from the main Ukraine supply route in Bakhmut.


Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast

In the north east residential area of Bakhmut, Russia has advanced by 400 metres to capture approx. 0.31 km2 or 3 city blocks worth of land.


Opytne/Ivanhrad, Donetsk Oblast

In the village immediately south of Bakhmut, Russia has advanced by 1.8 km to capture approx. 3.6 km2 of land, reaching the outskirts of Mariupolske Cemetery.


Krasna Hora, Donetsk Oblast

Russia has advanced along the frontline in this area by 100-500 metres to capture approx. 2.4 km2.

Beginning to encroach on the town of Krasna Hora, which is being surrounded on 3 sides by Russian soldiers.


Blahodatne, Donetsk Oblast

Russia has advanced beyond the road and village by 850 metres to capture approx. 1.15 km2 of territory from Ukraine. 

The situation for Ukrainian soldiers along this area of the front is dire.


Kreminna, Donetsk/Luhansk Oblasts

Russia has continued it small offensives in this area and has begun to retake previously liberated lands from Ukraine to the amount of approximately 17 km2 of land.

Bakhmut In north-east Bakhmut, Russia has advanced slightly to the amount of 300 metres capturing a small slither of land very near a residential area. No other changes in the Bakhmut area. Soledar There are reports coming from both Ukraine and Russian telegram channels that the "Soledar Mine number 7" has been captured by the Wagner group. It is unconfirmed as of now but we should get more information tomorrow. Other Areas of Ukraine - Marinka Russia has advanced south of the town of Marinka, Donetsk Oblast, by the amount of 700 metres, capturing approx. 1.5 km2 of land. Other areas of Ukraine - Kreminna There are reports that both Russian and Ukrainian troops are in contact and fighting within the city limits of Kreminna.  There are also reports about fighting EAST of the P-66 highway near the village of Chervonopopivka. Unconfirmed at this time but a very likely situation favouring Ukraine.

  Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast There have no been no confirmed changes in territory in Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast. The bridge over the Bakhmutovka River next to Blahodatne has been blown and has stopped the Russian advance for now in that direction. Co-ordinates for Bridge Blown:  48.69647, 38.02364 Klishchiivka, Donetsk Oblast The Russian advance in the village has progressed and confirmed to have entered the centre of the village. It is not yet known/not yet been confirmed whether the entire area is captured. They advanced by at least 750 metres to capture approx. 2.7 km2 of territory, capturing the east side of Klishchiivka.   Vuhledar, Donetsk Oblast The constant Russian attacks on Vuhledar have continued throughout the week with Ukraine destroying each of their attempts to take the city, which had a pre war population of approx. 14,000 Ukrainians. However, Russia has advanced east of Pavlivka by the amount of 900 metres to capture approx. 0.8 km2 of land. This leaves Russia 1km from outskirts of the city. Klishchiivka/Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast There have been no confirmed changes from either Klishchiivka or Bakhmut city for a few days. Sil/Blahodatne, Donetsk Oblast Russia has crossed the Bakhmutske river next to the village of Sil, and advanced by 800 metres to capture 2.4 km2 of land. The T0513 highway has been crossed.
